Privacy Policy

Closer is made by HD Counseling, LLC (“we”). Closer is built around one promise: what you write is seen only by the people in your room, and only once everyone has answered. This policy explains what we collect and why.

What we collect

• The name you type when you join a room.
• Your answers, and game activity like which rooms you’re in and which rounds you’ve answered.
• A random device ID. Closer has no accounts. We create an anonymous ID for your device so you keep your seat. We never ask for your email, phone number, or password.
• A notification token, only if you turn notifications on, so we can tell you when it’s your turn.
• Reports and blocks you make, so we can keep the game safe.
• Basic technical logs (such as IP address and device type) that our hosting providers keep briefly for security and reliability.

We do not collect your contacts, location, photos, or microphone. There are no ads, no ad trackers, and no analytics SDKs. We never sell or rent your data, and we don’t use your answers to train AI.

Who can see your answers

• Only players in the same room, and only after everyone has answered. This is enforced by our database, not just the app.
• Notifications never include anyone’s answers.
• If someone reports an answer, a copy of it (with the question, room code, and display name) goes to our moderator so we can review it.
• We don’t read your answers otherwise, except when the law requires it or to protect someone’s safety.

Services we use

These companies process data only to run Closer for us:

• Supabase: database and anonymous sign-in
• Vercel: hosting
• Google Firebase Cloud Messaging: app notifications
• Resend: emails our moderator when something is reported

How long we keep it

Your names and answers are kept until you delete them. A reported answer is kept as a safety record for up to one year after it’s reviewed. Then it’s deleted.

Deleting your data

Go to Delete my data (also linked at the bottom of every screen). It permanently removes everything tied to your device, right away. You can also email us at closertogethergames@gmail.com. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your data. We honor those requests for everyone.

Age

Closer is for adults 18 and older. It is not directed to children, and we don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor is using Closer, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and protected by access rules in the database. No system is perfect, so please don’t write anything you’d be harmed by if it were exposed.

Not a health service

Closer is a game, not therapy or medical care. Nothing you write creates a counselor–client relationship, and we don’t treat answers as health records.
